CURRICULUM - ST SCHOLASTICA'S STAGE 4
Stage 4 of the curriculum encompasses the entry years to high school, Years 7 and 8.
In Year 7 the College aims to give students a taste of a wide variety of subjects across all areas of the curriculum. All areas of study are compulsory. Typically a Year 7 student will study: English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, History, Geography, Design and Technology, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, Music, Visual Art, Drama.
In Year 8 the College aims to provide students with continuity in their studies that were commenced in Year 7. The pattern of study is identical to Year 7 with the addition of studies in Languages Other than English. The College offers study in French, Italian and Japanese to students at this level.
Typically the classes at St Scholastica’s are mixed ability across all subject areas.
There is both remediation and extension of students in Mathematics and English. Students in Years 7 and 8 sit for external examinations in the form of ELLA (English Language and Literacy Assessment) and SNAP (Secondary Numeracy Assessment Program).
